The Patesians Sports & Social Club are opening their doors on Saturday 18th August for their annual Cider & Ale Festival.
The sports club, located on Everest Road in Cheltenham, will be welcoming visitors to enjoy a range of fun events and, of course, sample some of the finest ciders and ales from local and national breweries. As well as live music there will also be a BBQ and a cake stall with face painting and free squash lessons for children to enjoy.
Old Patesians’ rugby team will be playing a match against local rivals Lydney as preparations for the new season intensify. After a hugely successful 2017-2018 season, which culminated in the Old Patesians first team winning promotion to the South-West Premier division, players from Old Patesians will be taking part in a match against Lydney on what promises to be a fantastic afternoon of sport.
Popular band ‘The Road Zombies’, featuring one of the club’s top squash players, Brad Edwards, will be playing an acoustic set before the game gets underway and will then move inside once the game has finished where they will continue playing well into the evening.
Gethin Evans, the club’s Chairman, says the day is always one of the highlights of summer. He said: “Our Cider & Ale Festival is a great day, there’s so much going on. The new season is just around the corner, so our players will be looking forward to getting a run out against Lydney. Off the pitch there’s plenty of things to enjoy, with live music, face painting and of course a fantastic array of ciders and ales.
“We’ll also be running junior squash taster sessions on our squash courts. The sessions are completely free of charge and a great introduction into the sport. The event gets underway on our ground on Everest Road at midday.
“Throughout the day we’ll be running a tombola to raise money for the local Cotswold Riding for the Disabled Association. All the money raised from the tombola will go straight to a wonderful charity that does so much to benefit the lives of people with disabilities.”Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
