Gloucester Docks will be filled with live entertainment, hands-on activities and delicious food and drink, this April 2026.
New festival, A Weekend by Water, organised by Gloucester BID runs from Saturday 25th to Sunday 26th April.
The waterfront festival promises a lively, family-friendly atmosphere throughout the weekend with creative workshops, pop-up experiences and interactive activities for all ages.
There'll also be the chance to step aboard the historic cargo schooner Kathleen & May and Llanthony Secunda Priory is opening its doors for tours.
Designed to celebrate the city’s waterside heritage, it's hoped the event will bring fresh energy to the city centre.
Marketing Assistant at Gloucester BID, Izzy Townsend, said: “We’re incredibly excited to introduce A Weekend by Water as a brand-new event for Gloucester.
"The docks are such an important part of the city’s identity, and this weekend is all about bringing that space to life in a fresh and welcoming way.
"We wanted to create something that celebrates our heritage while also showcasing the creativity, businesses and community spirit that make Gloucester so special.
"As a first-time event, it’s a fantastic opportunity to build something that can grow year-on-year and become a real highlight for the city.”
Lead Volunteer of Kathleen & May, Karen Taylor, added: “This free event offers a rare chance to step back in time and experience life aboard a working cargo schooner in her heyday.
"Brought to life by our passionate volunteers, we’re excited to share the story, spirit, and seafaring heritage of Kathleen & May with all who come aboard.”
Sarah Lewis, operations manager Llanthony Secunda Priory, said: “This is a wonderful opportunity to step inside our historic buildings, explore the beautiful grounds, and discover the stories that have shaped this remarkable site over nearly 900 years.
"Whether joining a guided tour or simply enjoying the open day, we look forward to sharing the Priory with the community.”
