Now in its 30th year, The Cotswold Show remains one of Gloucestershire’s most popular events. With its hugely successful mix of family entertainment, activity arenas, and over 300 trade stands and food stalls, the 2018 show looks certain to be a perfect day out for the entire family.
Philippa Stagg, Press and Marketing Manager for the Cotswold Show, is predicting another successful weekend when the 2018 Cotswold Show gets underway on 7th July. She said: “The Cotswold Show is always one of the highlights of the year for so many people. There’s so much to do for all ages, it’s a fantastic day out for the whole family. This year we’re commemorating both the centenary of the end of World War One and the centenary of the formation of the RAF, we’ve got a fantastic display of biplanes and triplanes that are going to be flying over the show grounds which is going to be such a thrill.
“On the ground we’ve got so much going on. There’s an award-winning BMX team that are going to be putting on an amazing show. We’ve also got a parachute team attending, a falconry exhibition, rare breeds of animals, a Punch and Judy show, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.”
One of the highlights of the Cotswold Show, which takes place in the grounds of Cirencester Park, is always the vast array of award-winning food for sale, and this year several renowned chefs will be running live demonstrations, giving visitors the chance to pick up a few handy culinary tips. Philippa continued: “We’re so excited to be welcoming a host of hugely successful chefs who work in the county. Our cookery theatre will have live cooking demonstrations by award-winning chefs who work here in Gloucestershire. It promises to be a lot of fun and I’m sure everyone who watches the demonstrations will be able to pick up a few new tips.”
Anyone with a keen interest in the animal kingdom is well catered for at the Cotswold Show, with this year’s event welcoming back a popular falconry team. Philippa said: “We’re really pleased to be hosting the ‘Hawkeye Falconry Display’ team. They have been giving professional falconry displays for many years and in that time have built up a reputation for giving one of the most sought-after and memorable bird of prey displays on the outdoor show circuit. As well as birds of prey we’ll also be seeing reindeer, rare breed sheep, alpacas, horses and many other wonderful creatures.”Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
