Having worked together previously, the company was founded in 2011 by Simon Raven and Simon Teague who have a combined experience of over 70 years in the industry.
An expert in wood machining, joinery and site fitting, Simon Teague has 40 years’ experience and an Advanced Craft City & Guilds Qualification in Carpentry and Joinery. He worked as a bench joiner for 13 years at Nicholls & Nicholls, Cornwall and was a site foreman at George Fosters for 13 years. In his spare time he enjoys sailing, windsurfing and watching rugby.
Simon Raven has over 30 years’ experience in the industry, having started as an apprentice at John Carr in Gloucester in 1992. He has an Advanced Craft City and Guilds Qualification in Wood Machining and, following seven years at John Carr, Simon gained valuable experience at some smaller companies in Gloucestershire and undertook the role of foreman for nine years starting at BC3, Cheltenham in 2002. His hobbies include watching football and cricket – including watching his sons – and going to the gym.
The company is proud to work with many private residential customers and local businesses, as well as local architects, interior designers, and builders and project managers from the professional sector. Simon Raven explains: “Pride, skill, attention to detail and a passion for what we do dictate that only the best standard of joinery and carpentry leaves our workshop. We supply and, if required, install our work ourselves to make sure our high standard is maintained. Every piece is inspected before it leaves the workshop.”
Three Piece Joinery offer a wide range of products, including external and internal doors, conservatories, commercial projects such as display cabinets, furniture, gates, staircases and much more. Their comprehensive website shows an extensive guide to their products, along with galleries of the many projects they have completed.
In 2021, the company was nominated for and won a Civic Award for the restoration of a regency house canopy, which was completed in 2020 – an achievement that both Simons are very proud of. They also take a lot of pride in the level of repeat custom they receive from their clients and, with an impressive rating of 4.9/5 on Google, it’s no wonder they gain so many word of mouth referrals from their clients’ friends and family.
A commitment to sustainability is something that sets Three Piece Joinery apart from many others in the industry. They only use the best, most sustainable materials available, including Accoya – a high-performance modified wood offering unrivalled reliability, durability and a high-quality finish. Accredited by the FSC® and Cradle to Cradle Gold certified™, it is the only construction material in the world to achieve C2C Platinum certification™ for Material Health.
They also use many different types of glass and are always exploring new options to meet heritage and conservation requirements, such as thermal ratings. Both Simons are passionate about achieving the best outcomes for their clients, whilst sourcing materials in the most responsible manner.
