Verity Barr is taking on the Cotswold Way over nine days while raising money for the hospice that cared for her husband.

Verity, 40 and from Cheltenham, will be walking the length of the Cotswold Way over nine days to raise money for Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice.

Her husband Henry was cared for by the Hospice at Home team two years ago and Verity felt that she wanted to give something back.

The Cotswold Way is a 100-mile stretch between Bath and Chipping Campden where Verity will pass through several Cotswold towns and villages including Leckhampton, Painswick and Wotton-under-Edge.

Verity, a Cheltenham PR consultant, said: “My husband died two years ago and I wanted to do something in his memory and to raise money for the Sue Ryder hospice which gave us so much support when we needed it.”

Aside from raising funds for the hospice, Verity has other reasons for wanting to take on the Cotswold Way.

“We live in a really beautiful place so it will be great to discover some places of the Cotswolds I’ve never been to before,” she said.

“Lots of my family and friends are joining me along the way so I’m looking forward to spending time with them and we can all experience the stunning surrounding together.”

Verity will be embarking on her journey from Bath to Chipping Campden over the next few weekends.

She set herself a fundraising target of £500 which she has already surpassed.
