Hartpury College A-level student Charlie Brown wins triathlon title at British championships
Author: Roger Jackson, Posted: Thursday, 31st October 2019, 09:00
Hartpury College A-level student Charlie Brown has clinched top honours at the British Modern Triathlon Championships.
He capped a successful event for members of Hartpury’s Modern Pentathlon Academy – one of Pentathlon GB’s leading academies – by claiming first place in the Under-17 boys’ category at the showpiece event in Solihull.
Brown produced an impressive performance in the laser run and also showed up well in the swimming and shooting legs.
Georgina Crawford secured a personal-best time in the swimming leg on the way to finishing 11th in the Under-17s girls’ category.
Katie Megan-Davies was 17th in the same category – a fantastic effort from only her third week into the sport.
Alasdair Moir finished eighth in the Under-19 boys’ category against a strong field of competitors, most of whom are now Great Britain juniors, to round off a rewarding day for the Hartpury athletes.
James Wild, Hartpury’s Modern Pentathlon Academy Manager, said: “All our students worked really hard and prepared well in the build-up to the competition and it’s great that their efforts have been rewarded.
“Charlie should be exceptionally proud of his performance – it takes something very special to win a British title – but all of the team could go home with their heads held high.
“We’re proud to have such talented and committed students within the Modern Pentathlon Academy at Hartpury, and their performances at Solihull bode well for the rest of the season.”Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
