Leckhampton Lawn Tennis Club hoping that the sun shines on Saturday
Cheltenham > Sport > Tennis

The summer of 2019 hasn’t yet hit the heights of last year in terms of the weather but members of Leckhampton Lawn Tennis Club have got fingers – and rackets – crossed that the sun shines brightly this weekend.
That’s because the club, whose home is just off Burrows playing field in Leckhampton, Cheltenham, is holding an Open Day on Saturday (11am-3pm).
The club, which has been described as a “hidden gem”, consists of two grasscourts and a clubhouse.
And even though they are a small club – they have some 20 or so members – they have a proud history because the club’s archives go back to the 1930s. It is also known that grasscourts existed on the site in the 1920s and some say even before that.
“We are situated off Moorend Grove and enjoy wonderful views over Leckhampton Hill,” said secretary Anne Gimingham
“If you are interested in playing tennis but can’t make the Open Day, please come along to our club social play on Saturday afternoons from 2pm and Mondays and Thursday evenings from 6pm.”
