Gloucestershire ladies’ tennis captain Esther Curtis tells of her promotion delight

Esther Curtis has hailed her wonder women after Gloucestershire’s tennis ladies secured promotion to Group 5 in the Aegon Ladies’ Summer County Cup.
The county captain could hardly contain her joy as Gloucestershire swept to victory in all five of their matches, dropping just six rubbers in the entire week.
The event took place at East Glos Club in Cheltenham at the end of last month and Curtis said: “It was a fantastic week of tennis in which each member of the Gloucestershire team played extremely well and did the county proud.
“Special acknowledgement must go to Lissey (Barnett) and Laura (Eales) who managed, once again, to achieve 15 out of 15 wins giving them their second entry into the 15/15 club, a feat very few players ever achieve.
“Overall we fielded a very strong team and I look forward to being able to field equally strong teams in the future.
“We had fantastic home support throughout the week and we would like to thank all who came to watch and cheer us on. We now look forward to Winter County Cup in November taking place in Shrewsbury, and to County Week next year in Group 5.”
This year’s team was made up of Curtis, Barnett, Laura Eales, Jenny Eales, Sophie Brazell, Ella Mora, Elsa Pool and Charlotte Russell.
Results: v Dorset (won 7-2); v North of Scotland (won 7-2); v Bedfordshire (won 8-1); v Hereford and Worcester (won 8-1); v Wiltshire (won 7-0).Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
