Cirencester Open Air Swimming Pool looking for new treasurer
Author: Roger Jackson, Posted: Thursday, 22nd June 2017, 16:00
The recent heatwave has brought sun-seekers and fun-seekers flocking to Cirencester Open Air Swimming Pool over the past week or so.
The popular pool on the edge of Cirencester Park has gone from strength to strength over the past decade and is now a regular destination for many living in and around Cirencester, especially when the sun is shining.
However, amid all the wall-to-wall sunshine, there is a small cloud on the horizon. The pool’s committee will soon be looking for a new treasurer - the existing finance man, Lyndon Gilks, is moving away from the area.
“We’re hoping to find someone soon,” said vice-chairman Cathy Maggs. “We’re also looking for volunteers to help with the day-to-day running of the pool. And we’re always looking for lifeguards as well.”
Chairman Mike Cutts, who has done so much to revitalise the pool over the last 10 years, is also standing down at the end of the season.
“He’s done so much to push the renovations at the pool,” said Cathy. “His last day will be on September 10th, which is his birthday. That’s the last day that the pool will be open this season.”
Cathy said that the new chairman will be voted in by the pool’s committee.
