Ticket sales are ‘very strong’ as Ronnie O’Sullivan set to head all-star snooker cast for top tournament at Cheltenham Racecourse

While the likes of Richard Johnson, Sam Twiston-Davies and Aidan Coleman are all names in the frame when it comes to picking winners at Cheltenham Racecourse, punters will be talking about frames of a different kind at the home of National Hunt Racing in a couple of months’ time.
That’s because the leading players from the world of snooker will be heading to The Centaur at Prestbury Park to take part in the Coral World Grand Prix.
It will take place from 4th-10th of February and among those set to take part are Ronnie O’Sullivan – considered by many to be the best snooker player ever – John Higgins and Judd Trump.
There will also be a local boy taking part too because Jack Lisowski, from Cheltenham, is among the top 32 ranked players who are qualified to play
And the tournament has certainly captured the imagination of snooker fans in Gloucestershire with a spokesman for World Snooker saying: “Ticket sales are very strong so far which is fantastic to see as this will be the first major tournament we have staged in Cheltenham.
“The line-up for the event is shaping up and top stars like Ronnie O’Sullivan, Mark Selby, Judd Trump, John Higgins and local favourite Jack Lisowski are all currently among the top 32 of the one-year rankings and in line to qualify for the Coral World Grand Prix.
“Fans are urged to book their seats quickly because certain sessions will sell out. Tickets make a great Christmas present for anyone who loves live sport!”
Last year’s tournament in Preston was won by Ronnie O’Sullivan who beat Ding Junhui in the best of 19 frames final.Other Images
