Western Tempo runner Dylan Gillett is the star turn at Stroud Half Marathon
Author: Roger Jackson, Posted: Monday, 28th October 2024, 12:00
Dylan Gillett stormed to a hugely impressive victory in the Stroud Half Marathon yesterday.
The 24-year-old finished more than two minutes clear of his nearest challenger, Western Tempo team-mate Tom Evetts, going round in one hour, eight minutes, 11.3 seconds.
“He’s a very good runner, very strong,” said his clubmate Dom James, who has dominated the Cheltenham Half in recent years. “I’m very pleased for him. He’s a really nice lad, very humble, he’s a great person to have in the group.
“He does everything from 5K to half-marathon. Based on his times I think he would say 10K is his best distance but he’s still young, he’s improving all the time.”
Evetts finished in 1.10.22 while another Western Tempo runner, Jack Bancroft, was fourth in 1.11.35.
Cheltenham Harriers’ Max Thompson was fifth in 1.11.39 while Matt Hudd, who was sixth, was the first Stroud Athletic Club runner home in 1.11.44.
Third place went to Team Bath’s Lester James.
