Popular Boddington 10 organised by CLC Striders has 'taken off like a rocket'

This year’s Boddington 10 takes place on Sunday

Many of the county’s big-hitters will be out in force this weekend for a race that has become very popular in a short time.

The Boddington 10 is in just its third year but 250 runners will be on the start line for Sunday’s race which sold out in quick time.

“It’s taken off like a rocket,” said Matt Ashman, chairman of CLC Striders who organise the 10-mile race. “We’ve got a huge waiting list, the runners love it.”

The Boddington 10 has replaced the Staverton 10 on the club’s racing calendar and Ashman continued: “It’s superb, it’s a great route. Four nice loops on a lovely, quiet course.”

Last year’s race was dominated by Western Tempo runners who filled the first five positions.

Cheltenham Half Marathon serial winner Dom James won in a course record 49 minutes, 56 seconds, finishing just four seconds ahead of Dylan Gillett.

“All the top clubs in the area have got runners taking part,” said Ashman. “There will be a heck of a starting line, there aren’t too many 10-mile races, we’re delighted to host it.”

The race HQ is outside The Gloucester Old Spot and the race starts at 9am.
