Western Tempo enjoyed a treble top at this year’s Bourton Half Marathon.

Dylan Gillett was the race winner – he completed the 13.1 miles in one hour, 10 minutes, six seconds  – Megan Marchant was the first female home, while 58-year-old Fee Maycock was also presented with a special prize.

“She won the age and gender graded prize,” explained race director Steve Howell. “It’s the first time we’ve presented the prize, she scored 92.4 per cent.”

Age-grading is a way of measuring a person’s running performance taking into account their age and gender.

It produces a percentage score for a competitor’s run based on their age. It also takes into account their gender so they can use the percentage score to compare their performance with other runners, regardless of both age and gender.

Maycock, who also won the 50-59 category, finished 22nd overall in one hour, 32.23.

Gillett, meanwhile, set a new course record, finishing almost six-and-a-half minutes ahead of second-placed Stroud Athletic Club runner Alister Liscott.

“It was a really good run,” continued Howell. “I was slightly surprised how good it was, he took nearly a minute off the previous record.”

Bristol and West runner Ben Robinson set the course record of 70 minutes, 59 seconds in 2023 and Gillett wasn’t the only record-breaker yesterday because Marchant set a new best time for female runners in the race.

She went round in one hour, 21.43, beating the previous record of one hour, 25.10 set by Bristol and West runner Chelsea Baker last year. Marchant finished ninth.

CLC Striders’ Peter Duffy was third overall in one hour, 17.33, a minute behind Liscott. There were 115 finishers.
