Dom James dominated the Boddington 10

Dom James smashed his own course record as he won the Boddington 10 in commanding style yesterday.

The Western Tempo runner completed the 10 miles in 49 minutes, 29 seconds, knocking 27 seconds off the record he set last year.

It was a dominant performance by the 30-year-old as he finished more than two minutes ahead of second-placed Bristol & West AC runner Dylan Rigby (51.30).

“He was miles ahead, it was a very, very strong run,” said Matt Ashman, chairman of CLC Striders, who organise the race.

And it wasn't just the men’s course record that fell because Alice Tredgett also set a new best for the women.

The Stroud Athletic Club runner clocked 1.00.22, knocking 23 seconds off the previous best set by Poole AC’s Emily Hilliar in 2024.

Tredgett finished 37^th overall and Ashman said: “It was a very good run, it was great to see.

“It was an amazing day, the weather was very good and lots of runners set PBs.”

Five Western Tempo runners finished in the top 10 with Dylan Gillett third in 52.14 and Alex Lee, winner of the Linda Franks 5 Mile the previous Sunday, fourth in 53.06.

Rob Barnett was the first runner home for the host club, finishing seventh in 54.21.

Liam Colahan (sixth) and ninth-placed Alex Jones were the other two Western Tempo runners to finish in the top 10.
