Cheltenham Half Marathon race ace Dom James targets 10 wins in a row
Author: Roger Jackson, Posted: Tuesday, 23rd September 2025, 17:00
Dom James is targeting a perfect 10 in the Cheltenham Half Marathon.
The 29-year-old Western Tempo runner has won the race for the past six years – most recently on Sunday – and now he’s aiming to win 10 in a row.
“I’m going to keep running the Cheltenham Half and I’m over halfway there,” he said.
His most recent came in one hour, eight minutes, 35.2 seconds, which was 30 seconds quicker than second-placed Dulwich runner Jack Ramm, and he added: “I think I’m coming into my prime, I’m still doing PBs in the shorter distances and in the endurance events I think there is still a lot more to come.”
James says his best events are the 1,500 metres and the 10K, although he is obviously very decent at the 3K, 5K and half-marathon.
“I’m lucky enough to be good at all distances although I’m not spectacular at any of them,” he said.
Another of his targets moving forward is to win a GB vest – “That’s definitely a goal,” he said – and he is also looking at running his first marathon.
“That’s something I want to do and I want to run a good time,” he said. “I want to nail the shorter stuff and then build up to a marathon in maybe a couple of years – 2027 or 2028.
“Every year I watch the London Marathon and every year it has piqued my interest more.”
It’s one of the great annual sporting events, of course, and James continued: “I’d like my first marathon to be London, it’s the pinnacle.”
More immediately James is set to compete for Western Tempo in the National 6 Stage Road Relays at Sutton Park, Birmingham, a week on Saturday.
“They ran the qualifying event at Sutton Park on Saturday, the day before the Cheltenham Half,” said James. “We won gold, that was a tough five-and-a-half kilometres.”Copyright © 2025 The Local Answer Limited.
