Bournside School pupils Ollie Burridge and Caspar Hambling complete 50K and raise more than £10,000 in memory of friend Ellison Dawes
Author: Roger Jackson, Posted: Wednesday, 15th May 2024, 10:00
This is the moment that Bournside School teenagers Ollie Burridge and Caspar Hambling completed their epic 50 kilometres run at the weekend.
Readers of The Local Answer online will know that they were running in memory of their friend Ellison Dawes, who died at the age of just 11 in February 2021.
Ollie and Caspar completed the 50K in just over six-and-a-half hours, which was a pretty impressive achievement.
But what is even more impressive is that they raised more than £10,000 for the Bone Cancer Research Trust in memory of Ellison, who would have been 15 today.
Friends and family of Ollie and Caspar, including members of Ellison’s family, were there to greet them when they crossed the finishing line in Naunton Park in Cheltenham and Ollie’s mum Jemma said: “It was a truly incredible day celebrating and remembering Ellison with friendship and love.
“They are currently on £10,435 of donations which is amazing.”
Ollie and Caspar’s run saw them take part in the Cheltenham parkrun at Pittville Park before heading to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, Cranham Scout Hut, Leckhampton Hill, Pilley Bridge and the Lido, all places of significance for the three former Naunton Park Primary School pupils.
