Smiths, Widden Old Boys and Cirencester head to Shaftesbury Park, home of Dings Crusaders, at the weekend with all three clubs looking to return home with some silverware.

The trio have made it through to a Papa John’s Community Cup final, with Smiths and Widden Old Boys playing on Saturday and Cirencester in action on Sunday.

Smiths take on Harrow in the Counties 2 South Plate final at 1pm, two hours after Widden tackle Worth Old Boys in the Counties 3 & Below South Plate final.

Cirencester, meanwhile, will go head-to-head with Saracens Amateur in the Counties 2 South Shield final on Sunday at 1pm after winning 33-22 at Avonmouth Old Boys at the weekend.

And Cirencester, who are celebrating their 75^th anniversary this year, are certainly enjoying a very busy finish to their season.

“We’ve got the annual end-of-season dinner on Friday,” said chairman David Reeves. “We’ve got 180  coming and then next week we go on tour to Malaga.”

Cirencester finished ninth in the 11-strong Counties 2 Gloucestershire North this season and Reeves added: “It would be very nice to win the cup on Sunday.”

Their opponents Saracens Amateur booked their place in the final with a 27-26 win at home to Old Whitgiftian at the weekend after finishing fourth in the 10-strong London & SE Division Counties 2 Herts/Middx behind Brunel University, Ealing Trailfinders 1871 and Wasps FC. They won 11 of their 18 league games.

Saracens, one of the big names in world club rugby, were formed in 1876.

They have come a very long way in recent times, of course, but since the advent of professional rugby in the mid-1990s, amateur rugby has continued to be played at Bramley Road in north London under the auspices of Saracens Amateur.

Smiths’ opponents Harrow play in the same division as Saracens Amateur, finishing one place and five points below them. They won eight and drew two of their league games and booked their place in the final with a 41-29 win at home to Chipstead, while Smiths won 15-14 at Bristol Saracens.

Widden Old Boys, meanwhile, face opponents who secured their place in the final with a 52-32 home win over Royston. Worth Old Boys finished fourth in the 10-strong London & SE Division Counties 3 Surrey, winning 11 or their 18 games.

Widden earned their place in the final with a 32-27 win at Ashley Down Old Boys.
