Old Patesians Under-12s have claimed an impressive cup double.
The up-and-coming team delighted their supporters by winning the inaugural John Brain Cup, and the prestigious Land Rover Defender Cup, on back-to-back weekends.
“These triumphs are not just fleeting moments of success but a testament to the dedication, teamwork and countless hours of hard work that this group of young players have put in,” said team manager Olli Williams.
“The core of the team has been playing together for nearly four years, forging strong bonds and developing an impressive understanding of the game.”
The age group has 50 active players and the club and coaching staff have long recognised their potential, investing heavily in their development and ensuring that every player receives ample opportunities to grow.
Their hard work bore fruit in spectacular fashion as they dominated both tournaments, showcasing fantastic levels of skill and discipline against competitive opposition.
“One of the most pleasing aspects for the coaching staff was the manner in which these victories were achieved,” continued Williams.
“In attack, the team demonstrated a structured and disciplined approach, maintaining possession, building pressure through multiple phases, and executing fast, accurate passing to exploit space.”
And their defensive resilience was perhaps even more impressive.
“Their commitment to backing each other and their tireless defensive efforts resulted in an extraordinary defensive record,” added Williams.
“In nearly two hours of rugby and across 11 fiercely contested matches, they conceded just a single try.
“The future is undoubtedly bright for this group of players. With their relentless work ethic and passion for the game, there is no telling what they can achieve next but, for now, these boys can take immense pride in their achievements.”Copyright © 2025 The Local Answer Limited.
