Matson win North Gloucestershire Combination Senior Cup but Chosen Hill make it tough

Matson made it a brilliant league and cup double as they overcame gallant Chosen Hill to win the North Gloucestershire Combination Senior Cup at Kingsholm.

But they were pushed all the way by their Western Counties North opponents before easing to a 36-23 win.

Matson have enjoyed a phenomenal season, claiming the Western Counties North title with a perfect record of played 24, won 24, scoring more than 1,000 points along the way.

Two of those victories were at the expense of Chosen Hill who managed just 14 points across those two games.

But while Matson’s flagship team were adding another trophy to their cabinet, their 2nds and 3rds lost out narrowly to Longlevens 2nds and Old Centralians 3rds respectively in their cup finals.

Longlevens 2nds ended a fine season for the club – their 1^st team won Gloucestershire Premier – by winning the Martin Slatter Junior Cup 22-19, while Old Centralians withstood a late rally to clinch the Glanville Cup 32-27.
