Kingsholm will host the North Gloucestershire Combination Senior and Junior cup finals on Sunday 25th May
Matson set up a repeat of the 2023 North Gloucestershire Combination Senior Cup final when they won 59-7 at Chosen Hill last night.
The Regional 1 South West club will play Longlevens in the showpiece occasion at Kingsholm on Sunday 25th May, two years after the clubs met in a final which will be long remembered by supporters of Longlevens.
The club, who play two levels below Matson in Counties 1 Western North, stunned their rivals by winning 42-32 to claim their first Senior Cup since 1961.
Matson gained revenge last season when they defeated Longlevens in the first round on the way to winning a competition they have won more times than any other club.
Last season they defeated Old Centralians in the final, the club who Longlevens beat earlier this month to book their place in this season's final.
Matson’s 2nds and 3rds won the Junior Cup and Glanville Cup respectively in 2024 and they could claim another clean sweep this time around with their 2nds playing Old Cryptians in the Junior Cup final and their 3rds playing Chosen Hill 3rds in the Glanville Cup final.
The Junior Cup final will be played at Kingsholm on 25th May while the Glanville Cup final will be played at Matson on Friday 23rd May (6pm).
The Junior Cup final on the Sunday will be followed by an invitational women’s game between Dursley Ladies and Hucclecote Ladies as part of a three-day festival of rugby which is set to include walking rugby, mixed ability rugby and county championship men’s and women’s matches between Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire.
The North Gloucestershire Combination Senior Cup final will follow the invitational women’s game.Copyright © 2025 The Local Answer Limited.
