King's School, Gloucester reign at Twickenham

King’s School are celebrating after a stunning second-half fightback saw them claim an historic victory at Twickenham.

The Gloucester school defeated King Edward’s School Birmingham 29-16, scoring 24 unanswered points after the break to win the National Schools Under-18 Vase trophy for the first time.

It’s a remarkable achievement, all the more impressive because they had to dig really deep to overcome determined opponents.

Two penalties gave King Edward’s School an early advantage and although Henry Ramsden went over for a good try, King’s were up against it when the first half ended after two Ashley Jindu tries.

But all was certainly not lost and flanker Harri Green began the King’s revival when he raced over for his side’s second try.

Charlie Stallard converted and King’s were ahead for the first time when Kwabena Ofusu-Apea touched down.

Full-back Stallard then took centre stage as he added two further tries, one of which he converted, as King’s enjoyed a day they will never forget.
