The Sky Sports television cameras are heading to Hartpury to broadcast a Championship rugby match live from its campus for the first time.
Gloucestershire rugby fans will be glued to their TV screens to watch Hartpury play Richmond in a Greene King IPA Championship fixture on Friday (kick-off 7.45pm).
The match will take place at the Gillman’s Ground, adjacent to the state-of-the-art Sports Academy on Hartpury University and Hartpury College’s 360-hectare campus.
Former Hartpury players include England’s man of the moment Jonny May, who scored a hat-trick of tries against France in a Six Nations match on Sunday.
Tom Radcliffe, Director of Elite Sport at Hartpury, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be hosting the Sky Sports team on Friday for what promises to be another vibrant occasion.
“It’s a fabulous opportunity for our students to showcase their talents to a national TV audience, as well as providing our extensive range of facilities with more great exposure.
“Our first senior international match, between Fiji and Uruguay, attracted a bumper crowd in November and we’re hoping another good crowd on Friday will help spur the boys on to an important win.”Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
