Chosen Hill looking to make an impact in this season's North Gloucestershire Combination cup competitions

Chosen Hill chairman Stuart Coles says his club will be giving it their best shot when this season’s North Gloucestershire Combination cup competitions get under way this week.
Chosen Hill’s flagship team head to Hucclecote tomorrow evening for a Senior Cup first-round tie with a place in the semi-finals very much on their minds.
“I think we’ll be putting as strong a team out as we can,” said Coles. “This competition is always something to look forward to, it’s the local rivalry.
“I look forward to going to teams like Hucclecote, Brockworth, Coney Hill and Matson, and them coming to us.
“It’s the traditional way to end the season, it brings down the curtain.”
Chosen Hill, who reached the Senior Cup final in 2022, have had a difficult campaign in Counties 1 Western North and are 10th in the 12-strong division with two games remaining.
Coles has confirmed that Rich Planchant will remain in charge of the coaching side next season and it would certainly be a timely boost for the club if they could make it all the way to the final.
The final is at Kingsholm on Sunday 25th May, and Coles said: “It would be lovely to get to the final and to see us win – it would be something of a coup.
“That would be something I could tick off the bucket list.”
Not that Coles is underestimating Hucclecote, who play a division below Chosen Hill in Counties 2 Gloucestershire North.
They are sixth in the 12-strong division with one game to play and Coles continued: “This is the excitement of the cup, it’s a one-off game.”
The Junior Cup gets under way on Wednesday and the Glanville Cup starts on Thursday.
The Junior Cup final will also take place at Kingsholm on Sunday 25th May, part of a three-day festival of rugby which will begin on Friday 23rd May, a festival which is set to include walking rugby, mixed-ability rugby, county championship men’s and women’s matches between Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire, and a ladies’ invitational game between Dursley and Hucclecote.
All the games will take place at Kingsholm with the county championship games being played on the Saturday and the ladies’ invitational game on the Sunday alongside the two Combination cup finals.Copyright © 2025 The Local Answer Limited.
