Gloucester to dedicate Sale Sharks fixture to Mental Health Awareness
Gloucester > Sport > Rugby Union

Following the desperately sad death of TV personality Caroline Flack at the weekend, Gloucester’s match against Sale Sharks will be dedicated to shine a light on Mental Health, to raise awareness and promote kindness through the #BeKind campaign.
The Gloucester Rugby Foundation has teamed up with the Samaritans to raise awareness of Mental Health and bring in-stadium support to Kingsholm and fans.
“Our aim is to not only highlight mental health issues, but also to fill Kingsholm Stadium and raise as much money as possible for the Gloucester & District Samaritans,” said a club spokesman. “Therefore £5 from every ticket purchase will be donated to the charity.”
Gloucester fly-half Danny Cipriani was a friend of Caroline Flack’s and Lance Bradley, Gloucester’s CEO, said "We wanted to find a way of turning something so awful into something positive.
“Our idea is to make it easy for fans to show their support for Danny [Cipriani] at this incredibly difficult time for him, as well as highlighting mental health issues and raising money for the Gloucester & District Samaritans.
“If you choose just one rugby match to come to, even if you’ve never been before, it would be great if you’d make it this one."
The match against Sale takes place on Friday 28th February (kick-off 7.45pm).
Before that game with Sale, Gloucester head to London Irish for a Gallagher Premiership clash on Saturday, a clash that will be refereed by Luke Pearce.
Meanwhile former Gloucester back Henry Purdy has signed a two-year contract with Bristol Bears.Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
