Brockworth Ladies hoping to inspire women to take up rugby

Any ladies who fancy having a go at the great game that is rugby should get themselves down to Brockworth Rugby Club next month.
That’s because the Brockworth Ladies’ rugby team are hosting a rugby taster session on Sunday 9th February (noon-3pm) when they will give women the opportunity to pick up a rugby ball and give the sport a go.
The RFU run their annual ‘Inner Warrior’ campaign each year aimed at increasing female participation in the sport by offering clubs the opportunity to run taster sessions.
Brockworth Ladies have been running for 18 months and currently play friendlies.
They have a squad of around 17 players and are hoping to encourage more women over 18 to give rugby a go. There will be refreshments and cakes afterwards in the clubhouse.
Head coaches Emily Hatherall and Mark Barnard said: "We are a development side ideal for new players to join who've never played the game before.
“The aim of training is to improve our skills and understanding of the game whilst have fun.
“Our ambition is to enter a league in September and we have plenty of on and off the field social activities planned to help bring the team together."Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
