Old Cryptians chasing a perfect 10 at Fairford
Gloucester > Sport > Rugby Union
Author: Roger Jackson, Posted: Friday, 6th December 2019, 11:10
Old Cryptians head to Fairford tomorrow hoping to put clear daylight between themselves and the chasing pack in Gloucestershire One.
It could be argued that there is already plenty of light between them and the rest of the division after their scorching start to the season that has seen them win their opening nine league games, all with bonus points.
Second-placed Fairford – six wins and a draw from nine games – trail the leaders by 11 points and Old Cryptians skipper Chad Crosby said: “This is a real 10-pointer, it’s a big game, it’s very important. It would be nice to go into Christmas with two more wins.”
Old Cryptians entertain Gloucester Old Boys in the league a week tomorrow before hosting Cirencester in the RFU Junior Vase County Cup final on 21st December.
Fairford, meanwhile, have enjoyed a great campaign so far, their first at this level after winning promotion via the play-offs last time out.
They’ve clocked up some impressive victories and Crosby admits that he is stepping a little bit into the unknown tomorrow.
“I know very little about them to be honest,” he said. “They’ve had some good results but we’re going into the game pretty loaded, it will be a good battle.”
Third-placed Old Elizabethans, who are a further four points behind Fairford, travel to Dursley.Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
