Richard Planchant to take charge at Chosen Hill

Richard Planchant is the new head coach of Chosen Hill Rugby.

The Gloucestershire under-20 head coach, who guided the county to the last four of this year’s county championship, is a former player at Chosen Hill.

Planchant has been coaching Cinderford United and one of his immediate targets will be to get Chosen Hill back into Western Counties North after last season’s relegation.

Planchant’s assistant at Chosen Hill will be Mark Peacey, with whom he also worked at Gloucestershire under-20s. Peacey stood down as forwards coach at Old Patesians at the end of the recent campaign.

Committee member and outgoing chairman Phil King said: “It’s quite a coup for us. A few clubs were after Richard and it’s great that he’s decided to join us.”

Chosen Hill will be playing in Gloucestershire Premier next season and King, who was chairman of the club for nine years, said: “The aim is to go straight back up.”

King has been replaced as chairman by Dan Yeates, who was the club’s secretary.
