Cheltenham Civil Service went some way to putting behind them the disappointment of missing out on promotion to Gloucestershire One by winning the Cheltenham and District Combination’s Junior Cup at Newlands on Saturday.

They defeated Cheltenham 2nds 51-34, overcoming a slow start to enjoy an impressive victory.

It was a rich reward for the club who lost their top-of-the-table winner-take-all end-of-season Gloucestershire Two North showdown at home to Tewkesbury earlier in the month.

Cheltenham, meanwhile, retained the Senior Cup, proving too strong for Old Patesians 2nds as they won 65-20.

But Old Pats didn’t end the day empty-handed because their 4ths defeated Smiths 2nds 44-17 in the Minor Shield final.
