Referee Craig Maxwell-Keys will take charge of his first international when Romania play USA next month.
The two teams meet in Bucharest on Saturday 17th November and Maxwell-Keys said he was “chuffed to bits” to be given the opportunity.
The 28-year-old, who lives in Cheltenham, is one of the up-and-coming rugby referees in this country and has certainly been making a good impression since going full-time four years ago.
He has been officiating regularly in the English Premiership and the European Challenge Cup, and he also ran the line when Italy played Wales in Rome in the Six Nations two seasons ago.
Birmingham-born Maxwell-Keys said of his impending trip to Eastern Europe: “With there being so many Autumn internationals I was hoping to get an opportunity, it’s very, very nice.”
