Cinderford hoping to build on two successive wins in National One when they travel to Loughborough Students

Two wins on the spin have lifted Cinderford into the top four of National One but Paul Morris, for one, is certainly not getting carried away at this stage of the season.
Cinderford’s director of rugby says the club have made a “realistic start” ahead of Saturday’s trip to Loughborough Students, who are still looking for their first win of the campaign.
An opening day 36-29 defeat for Cinderford at home to Rosslyn Park – when they nonetheless picked up two bonus points through scoring four tries and converting a last-minute penalty – has been followed by wins at Birmingham Moseley and at home to Sale FC.
Those wins have certainly built up confidence among the club’s supporters with Morris insisting they should have won by a bigger margin than one point in Birmingham while against Sale they had to overcome a very difficult period at the start of the second before storming to a bonus-point win.
“We’re good value for every one of our 11 points in the league,” said Morris, “but we’re not getting ahead of ourselves. I’ll be highly surprised if we’re fourth at the end of the season.
“The plan was always to go up with a side that could cope in the higher division. It’s a huge step up and any mistake is pounced upon. It’s unrelenting.”
‘Unrelenting’ is also the word Morris uses to describe Cinderford’s forwards but despite their excellent form this season Morris doesn’t expect it to get any easier at Loughborough on their artificial pitch.
“They’ve made a rocky start but they will be fit and strong,” he warned.Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
