Gloucester’s game against Northampton is their 5,000th competitive match

Gloucester’s Gallagher Premiership Rugby opener against Northampton Saints on Saturday 1st September is a big game in its own right but the game has added significance because it will be the club’s 5,000th competitive fixture.

It’s obviously a major milestone and the club would like to celebrate it appropriately and accordingly, they’ll be using the hashtag #GloucesterRugby5000 in the build-up to the game.

During those 5,000 games, there have been a huge number of memorable moments – many highs and a few lows of course.

The club are inviting supporters to send them their favourite Gloucester Rugby moments via Twitter, to @gloucesterrugby using the #GloucesterRugby5000 hashtag.

A shortlist of the most popular nominations will then be created, and a poll held to narrow it down to identify the winner which will be displayed on the big screens at Kingsholm on matchday.

They’ll also be welcoming a number of former players on the day to celebrate their contribution to the history of the club, and they will be forming a guard of honour before the game as well as making a lap of appreciation around the stadium.
