Ex-Harlequins star Karl Dickson to referee Gloucester v Saracens game at Kingsholm

Former Harlequins scrum-half Karl Dickson will referee his first ever Aviva Premiership Rugby match when Gloucester meet Saracens on Friday night.
The Cherry and Whites welcome the league leaders to Kingsholm and Dickson will be assisted by Peter Allan and Jack Makepeace for the match.
Dickson made 167 appearances for Harlequins before announcing his retirement from playing in April and heading into full-time refereeing.
Having worked his way up through the leagues while a player, Dickson took charge of Scarlets v Exeter Chiefs in the Anglo-Welsh Cup last weekend.
Dickson has been earmarked for the top of the game by former international referee Tony Spreadbury ever since his switch away from playing.
The RFU’s match officials chief said: “I have been impressed by Karl’s commitment, his attitude and his desire to go all the way in refereeing.
“His experience at scrum-half means he understands and has a good connection with both forward and back play.
“We think he is an exciting prospect, and has the skills to progress up the ladder.
“It is great that he has chosen refereeing as a post-playing career and took the initiative to qualify before retiring. We hope that he will be a role model for others.”Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
