While many club rugby players in Gloucestershire have got Saturday 9th September firmly imprinted on their minds – that’s the date when the county divisions kick off the new season – Gloucester OBs have a very important date three weeks before that.

The upwardly mobile club, who clinched promotion to Gloucester Premier last season, haven’t got their eyes set just on the present but also on the future as well.

That’s why they are holding a family open day on Saturday 19th August to attract more youngsters to the club.

The club, which is located just round the corner from the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, is hoping to run under-7s, 8s and 9s sides this season under the watchful gaze of Daniel Gombera.

Chairman Shane Bubb said that introducing a successful youth set-up was vital, especially as so many other clubs now have them.

“The future of clubs like ours depends on the youngsters," he said.

The open day kicks off at 11am and runs until 4pm.
