Ex-Newent head coach Andy Addis teams up with All Golds
Cheltenham > Sport > Rugby League
Author: Roger Jackson, Posted: Monday, 13th January 2020, 12:00
Former Newent Rugby Club head coach Andy Addis is the new team manager of All Golds rugby league team.
Addis’ pedigree in rugby union is first class having led Newent to four promotions and two national finals at Twickenham. He previously played for both Newent and Cinderford.
On the county stage he continues to play a major role both as the Gloucestershire team manager and as a selector for the senior side.
Addis and his family are equally at home in the 13-a-side code, however, with his son Mike having been a product of the All Golds’ academy system and an award winner with the first team last season.
Addis senior is looking forward to the new Rugby League Southern Conference League season and has joined the All Golds with a clear purpose in mind:
“I have joined the All Golds’ staff to use my experience from my union career to help improve standards,” he said.
“The board of directors has a clear vision of where the club needs to be and I want to be a part of this. It is a great opportunity in a forward thinking club and a new challenge for myself.”
Head coach Marcus Brown is delighted that Addis has joined the club.
“The club have been seeking a team manager with the appropriate gravitas and experience for some considerable time now,” he said. “It is fantastic news for the club having him on board for 2020.”Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
