Severn Stars looking forward to their fun summer tournament at Bentham
Author: Roger Jackson, Posted: Tuesday, 3rd July 2018, 09:00
There’s a real feelgood factor around Severn Stars Netball Club and this weekend they are hosting a fun summer tournament.
It takes place at Bentham Country Club on Sunday and runs from 11.30am until 2pm.
The go-ahead Forest of Dean team will be playing in Division Two of the Gloucestershire County Netball League next season after last season’s promotion, which will be the highest level they have ever played.
Sunday’s tournament is a fundraiser which the club hope will raise enough money to recruit a regular coach and to help cover the cost for kit and training venues.
“We have generally been funding this on our own over the last few years but we are becoming a team that are more recognised,” said Gemma Frankland.
“We would like to continue this pace and grow as a club.
“We are always recruiting new players aged 14 and upwards. We are a very welcoming team and everyone’s individual happiness within the club is our main priority.
“We are a team who play best when we are having fun and we have been able to maintain that along with playing a brilliant standard of netball.”
There are currently two teams who represent the Forest within the Gloucestershire League – Lyndean and Severn Stars.
Severn Stars is home to many people around the Forest including Coleford, Cinderford, Lydney and even Ross-on-Wye.Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
