It’s full speed ahead for up-and-coming driver Becky Frankland as she looks ahead to an exciting 2025.
Frankland enjoyed a great finish to 2024, qualifying for the inaugural Formula Woman Nations Cup finale, an event that will take place in Dubai in May.
And the Gloucestershire-based star is likely to be one of the favourites in early summer after coming fourth following three closely fought qualifying sessions at Dubai Autodrome.
The qualifying event was made up of 38 selected drivers from almost 30 separate countries and Graeme Glew, Formula Woman Founder and CEO, said: “Many congratulations to Becky on an outstanding result.
“She fully deserved her fourth place and it speaks volumes about her overall performance.
“There was some very impressive driving on show throughout the day and all the qualifiers will be delighted that they have made it through to the Formula Woman Nations Cup.”
Frankland, who lives in the Forest of Dean and works in Gloucester, was equally thrilled with her result.
“The Formula Woman Qualifying event in Dubai is currently the peak of my ongoing journey,” she said. “As far as putting into words how I feel, that's a task in itself.
“I don't think I've truly come back down to reality yet after qualifying fourth but I know that there is still so much to come.
“However, I can’t take the praise without mentioning Graeme Glew. This man has taken me through every step of the process from day one, taking me under his wing, seeing the potential and opening the door to a path I didn't think existed for me.
“I'm an incredibly independent woman and can tackle almost any task when my mind is set to it.
“Having said that, in the last 12 months I have had invaluable support both mentally and financially from my other half and parents.
“Without any of the people mentioned, I wouldn't be where I am today.
“I also want to give a huge mention to Edo Bacci, my coach during the qualifiers in Dubai.
“I take the emotional support from outside sources onto the track, but this man physically analysed every inch of my qualifying sessions and my test day beforehand, and without this support fourth place would have been a pipedream.”
And the preparations for Dubai in May are already in full flow.
“Obviously, time in a Radical racing car is a priority,” said Frankland.
“As with any sport, repetition and consistency are key to success, so for the next five months my focus will be on getting time on track and keeping up with my fitness.
“My goal in motorsport is quite simply to be a racing driver. I don't know exactly under which discipline or formula it will be in as I am still taking everything in my stride just one day at a time.
“I am very much looking forward to seeing what opportunities may come my way and I intend to grab them all with both hands.”Copyright © 2025 The Local Answer Limited.
