Buveur D'Air is strongly tipped to make it a hat-trick of wins in the Champion Hurdle on day one of the Cheltenham Festival tomorrow.
The Nicky Henderson-trained star has enjoyed back-to-back successes in the race and Mike Edwards, The Local Answer's racing tipster, believes he will be the 2019 champion as well.
Edwards tipped Buveur D'Air to win on this website 12 months ago – he also tipped Altior to win the Queen Mother Champion Chase and Native River to win the Gold Cup – so he clearly knows what's he's talking about.
Edwards said of Buveur D'Air: "He's won the last two Champion Hurdles and is expected to make it three. A great champion, he will take some beating on his favourite track."
Mike Edwards' top tips for day one
1.30pm: Fakir D'Oudairies – Seriously impressive last time out at Cheltenham. Receives an 8lb juvenile allowance and is taken to win from Al Dancer, the very impressive local horse trained at Guiting Power by Nigel Twiston-Davies.
2.10pm: Lalor – Impressive course and distance winner at Cheltenham in November with champion Jockey Richard Johnson on board.
2.50pm: Minella Rocco – Second in 2017 Gold Cup, too well handicapped to ignore. Trained locally at Jackdaws Castle by Jonjo O'Neill and owned by JP McManus.
3.30pm: Buveur D Air – Won last two Champion Hurdles, expected to make it three! A great champion will take some beating on his favourite track!
4.10pm: Benie Des Dieux – Willie Mullins' Irish raider won this race last year and a Grade 1 Hurdle at Punchestown last spring. It's a yard that wins this race on a regular basis. Strong claims. NAP SELECTION.
4.50pm: Good Man Pat – Outsider that is expected to go well, owned by Cheltenham Cricket Club stalwart David Sewell.
5.30pm: Impulsive Star – Recent impressive winner of a top 3-mile 5-furlong handicap chase at Warwick. Top amateur rider Sam Waley-Cohen on board. Will stay the gruelling 4-mile race.Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
