It’s very difficult to look past Altior in the showpiece race on day two of the Cheltenham Festival.
So says The Local Answer racing tipster Mike Edwards, who is backing the Nicky Henderson star to repeat last year’s success in the Queen Mother Champion Chase.
Edwards said: “He appears to be unbeatable at present – 17 straight wins under Rules, a winner at the last three Festivals and can handle the soft ground.”
Meanwhile, Edwards warns that the heavy rain and the resultant change in the ground may throw up a few long priced surprises.
Mike Edwards’ top tips for day two
1.30pm: Champ – Recent Grade 1 winner at Newbury, highly fancied.
2.10pm: Delta Work – Won The Pertemps Final last year, recently won a good Grade 1 at Leopardstown, high quality performer, high expectations!
2.50pm: Brio Conti – Recent Ascot winner, the Paul Nicholls yard is in top form, will handle the soft ground.
3.30pm: Altior – Appears to be unbeatable at present, 17 straight wins under Rules, winner at the last 3 Festivals, can handle the soft ground. NAP SELECTION
4.10pm: Tiger Roll – Used this race last year as a warm up for success in last year’s Grand National, loves the course and ground. Expected to win!
4.50pm: Band of Outlaws – Useful horse on the flat, JP O’Brien’s yard is on fire, won last 2 starts, handicapping seems to be his game!
5.30pm: Blue Sari – Won very easily at Gowran Park, JP McManus was so impressed that he bought him, has lots of scope, one to watch out for!Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
