A sum of between £2,000 and £2,500 was raised for The Injured Jockeys Fund at a big quiz night at Cheltenham Racecourse.

The general knowledge quiz is an annual event and is organised by Chris Coley, who is very well known in racing and cricketing circles and beyond.

“We had 47 teams take part,” said Coley, who set all the questions himself. “The winners were Milhouse Warriors, a team from Swindon who also won the quiz last year.”

The winning team answered 136 of the 165 questions correctly and their prize is a day out at the races at Cheltenham.

There were about 250 people involved in the quiz and Coley added: “The first one was in 1987 and that was for Gloucestershire cricket beneficiary Andy Stovold. He was one of my markers at the racecourse on Tuesday!”
