In-form Emily Campbell targeting a top four finish for Stroud
Author: Roger Jackson, Posted: Sunday, 15th February 2026, 09:00
In-form Stroud are looking for a strong finish to the season in West Hockey Women’s Berkeley Division 1.
They are currently in fifth spot in the 10-strong division, just three points behind third-placed Redland 2nds and just a point adrift of Westberries 3rds.
“We want to finish in the top four,” said Emily Campbell, who has been a key player this season.
Stroud are unbeaten in their last five games and their 3-3 draw at home to University of Bristol 3rds means they have collected 11 points in that period.
Campbell, the club’s chairperson who has been a regular for the first team for the past decade, has been on red-hot form this season.
Her two goals against University of Bristol took her tally to 11 for the season, a total that is all the more impressive because she told The Local Answer at the start of the campaign that her favourite position was right-back.
“I’ve really enjoyed playing up front, I’ve scored a lot more goals than I thought I would,” she said.
She’s the team’s leading scorer this season, four ahead of Alice Holmes.
The University of Bristol are unbeaten this season and started the day in top spot, but Campbell said: “It was a game we could have won, we’ve got a really good side.”
Stroud, who are captained by Sarah Goodchild, have six league games remaining. They travel to play ninth-placed Thornbury on Saturday 28th February.Other Images
