Senior golfers encouraged to compete at county championship at Long Ashton
Author: Roger Jackson, Posted: Friday, 26th July 2019, 13:40
More than 50 competitors have already signed up for the 2019 Gloucestershire County Seniors Championship which takes place on Thursday 15th August.
Long Ashton Golf Club, where the competition takes place, is a beautiful mature parkland just 10 minutes from Bristol city centre and is one of the area’s most premier clubs.
Played over 18 holes, the championship is an opportunity for golfers in the county aged 55 and over to test their game and play at a competitive level.
The winner, who will hold The Championship Salver until the next County Seniors Championship, will be the competitor who returns the lowest gross score, with prizes available for each age group.
Derek Butler, Championship chairman, said: “These events are always enjoyable and well organised and they’re a fantastic opportunity for senior players across the Gloucestershire golf region to be rewarded and recognised.”
Gloucestershire Golf Union are seeking more senior players to take part in the event – the deadline for signing up is Friday 9th August.
