Fundraising for Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice has been in full swing at the club throughout the past year – the final total raised was £7,474.66.
Following the decision by all three team captains to support their local hospice, members and their families have been tirelessly fundraising.
Club captain Lee Price said: “Lady captain Jean West, seniors’ captain Terry Curtis and myself made the decision to support the Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice due to our knowledge of the excellent work that is done there and the personal experiences of ourselves and our members.”
The money was raised through a number of raffles on competition days, fines for misdemeanours on captain away days and the grand finale, the Captains’ Charity Day held in August.
Price added: “All of our fundraising success relied heavily on the generosity of prize donations and volunteers to help make the events run smoothly.
“We owe a special thank you to my wife Clare and our lady vice-captain Christine Dooley, along with several other lady members for their part in proceedings.
“Pro shop manager Damian Brooks and bar and restaurant manager Jo Brown were also a fantastic help.”
Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court community fundraising manager Kelly Rumble was invited along to Brickhampton’s prize presentation evening in January to receive a cheque from the club.
She said: “We are so grateful for the support we have received from Brickhampton Golf Club over the past year.
“The amount they have raised could pay for 415 hours of hospice care which will make a real difference to local people we care for with cancer, lung disease, heart failure and neurological construing.
“Our doctors, nurses and other support staff strive to provide the best possible care for our patients and their families, and it’s only made possible with donations like this.
“As Gloucestershire’s only in-patient hospice, we need to raise £2.5 million each year so the support of community groups such as Brickhampton Golf Club is so valuable to us.”Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
