Members of Puckrup Hall Golf Club and their families turned out in force in support of its Captains’ Charity Day, raising an incredible £9,400 for a local hospice.
Around 200 members with friends and families attended the annual event at the Tewkesbury-based golf club, organised by this year’s men’s and ladies’ captains Phil Schiaffino and Ros Fenney, to raise funds for their joint chosen charity, Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice.
Phil and Ros arrived together by helicopter to tee off the day’s activities of family fundraising fun and charity golf including 30-metre children’s fun assault course, Shot Gun Start Texas Scramble, pig roast, barbecues and live music.
The captains took the unusual step to jointly support the same charity after hearing about the benefits of its care for local people.
The captains have been holding various fundraising events and activities at the club since the start of the year leading up to the Captains’ Day, a highlight of the club’s fundraising and social calendar.
Phil said: “The day was a collaboration of 12 months of hard planning between Ros and myself for all to enjoy and we are thrilled that the generosity of our members raised over £9,000 for Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court on the day.”
Ros added: “It was wonderful to spend the day out on our stunning course and in the clubhouse afterwards, with members, family and friends as a way of saying thank you for their support and to enjoy their company on this special occasion in our captains’ year.
“Raising much needed funds for the only hospice in Gloucestershire providing around the clock specialist hospice care from a specialist inpatient unit has made it all the more special for us.”Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
