Cleeve Cloud golfers qualify to play at Woodhall Spa

A team of four golfers from Cleeve Cloud have earned themselves a day out at the home of English golf next month.

The team of Hugh Fitzsimons, Rita New, Trevor Martin and Barbara Smyth will be playing at Woodhall Spa after winning the Gloucestershire County Golf Partnership Club Team Championship on their home course.

Each team consisted of two men and two ladies and the total of each team’s handicaps had to be between 50 and 96.

The Cleeve Cloud quartet took the honours with 83 points followed closely by the Broadway team of Barry Folkes, Louise Folkes, Ben Beacham and Irene Hawkes with 81 points.

The fab four will now play in the England Golf Team Championships at the Lincolnshire course during England Golf’s ‘Golf Week’ from 14th to 18th August.
