Tom Kelsey set off on his 1,000-mile walk in mid-March

Tom Kelsey is close to completing his epic 1,000-mile walk around the country.

The retired project manager contacted The Local Answer last week to say he was planning to finish in King's Square, Gloucester, at 2pm on Saturday 17th May.

At that stage he had clocked up 845 miles after setting off on Friday 15th March.

Tom, who has taken on other challenges over the years, has been walking to raise money for WellChild, a national charity based in Cheltenham which supports seriously ill children, young people and their families.

The walk has seen Tom, who lives in Gloucester, go along the Cotswold Way before crossing the Severn Bridge into Wales.

He then headed along Offa’s Dyke before taking the coastal path to Liverpool and then on to Hadrian’s Wall.

After walking along Hadrian’s Wall to the Pennine Way, he went down the Pennine Way before picking up the canal network to London which took him along the Trent and Mersey, Birmingham and Fazely, and Grand Union canals, before the last leg along the Thames Path to Kemble.
