Sandfield Farm in North Nibley is more than just a farm
Author: Roger Jackson, Posted: Thursday, 22nd February 2024, 09:00
Take a trip out to Sandfield Farm in North Nibley and you won’t be surprised by what you see.
Sheep, cattle and horses, as well as other animals, are all on view at the mixed farm, which is owned by Gary and Julie Salter.
But what you may be surprised to also find on the 140-acre farm is a health and wellbeing studio, a studio which is very much open for business.
Sandfield Health and Wellbeing is run by Emma Salter, who is married to Gary and Julie’s son George, and the studio can be found in a converted barn on the farm.
The one-time barn is now a multi-storey clinic, which includes a gym, and it is also home to George Salter Sports Therapy.
And the barn conversion is pretty impressive, as anyone who went to Sandfield Health and Wellbeing’s recent open day will surely testify.
“Our builder was incredible,” enthused Emma, who used to work in the ambulance service.
Emma’s business offers classes and personal training in an environment where people can find movement, exercise and fitness in whatever form suits them.
Meanwhile George, a keen mountain biker who used to work in a chiropractor clinic, is busy too.
“He offers injury assessment and treatment with a range of modalities, sports massage and rehabilitation, as well as working with individuals to build on their performance with strength and conditioning,” explained Emma, who ran her first marathon last year.
George and Emma met at the University of Worcester back in 2013 where they studied sports therapy.
“After graduating, I went on to study strength and conditioning as a post-grad certificate and worked at several rugby teams, both professional and semi-professional,” said Emma.
Those rugby teams included Worcester Warriors, Devizes and Royal Wootton Bassett.Copyright © 2024 The Local Answer Limited.
