Gloucester is getting ready for this year's Santa Fun Run
Author: Roger Jackson, Posted: Tuesday, 19th November 2024, 10:30
The banners are up and the snow has been falling as the city of Gloucester prepares for the ever popular annual Santa Fun Run.
Matt Cass, the driving force behind the event, is hoping that more than 500 people will take part on Saturday 14th December.
“We had more than 400 people last year, that was the most yet,” said Cass. “The event is growing all the time, I want to fill King’s Square with Santas and other festive outfits.”
More than 200 people have already signed up and Cass continued: “The Santa Fun Run is for everyone, anybody can take part.”
Entrants can walk, jog or run 5K or 1K – it’s not a race – with all the money raised from the event, which is organised by the Rotary Club of Gloucester, going to community projects.
Registration for this year’s fun run opens at 9:30am, ahead of a 10:30am start.
Cass will be dressed up in a Santa outfit on the big day, although making sure that everything runs smoothly means he won’t be able to take part in the run.
He should be pretty easy to spot though, even among the hundreds of Santas.
“I’ll be wearing a hi-viz yellow jacket on top of my Santa outfit and I'll be wearing Yoda ears,” he said with a laugh, before adding: “Come along and join the fun.”
The Glos Santa Fun Run was held for the first time back in 2017 when 50 people took part.Other Images
