Russell Hillier, Stroud Rugby Club president: “I would love to see sport return to what it should be all about… enjoyment. For all sports that should be the basic ethos.”

Paul Balmer, Cheltenham North Rugby Club chairman: “My hope is to see more people playing more rugby more often. We’ve got just under 200 youngsters in our youth set-up and they’re the future. Hopefully they will come through and field regular 2nd and 3rds XVs in years to come.”

Jim Adams, Stroud and District Athletics Club chairman: “I’d like to see Forest Green stay in the Football League. They’re my local sport and I like grassroots sport. As far as Stroud AC are concerned, I’d like to see us get our own running track.”

Tim Hancock, Gloucestershire County Cricket Club head of talent pathway: “I’m really hopeful that a couple of our academy cricketers can push to get into the senior county teams – not just the 2nds but the 1sts as well.”

Bob Ellis, president of Smiths Rugby Club and president of Cheltenham Combination: “I’d love to see Smiths get promotion to Gloucester One and Old Patesians win promotion to South West Premier. And as far as the cricket is concerned, I’d like to see Gloucestershire have a good season.”

Thomas Paterson, player/secretary of Sharpness Football Club: “My hope is that we can get new changing rooms built so that we can then push for promotion to the County League.”

Dave Kingscott, ex-Old Patesians rugby player and managing director of The Local Answer: “My hope is quite simple, I just want to see more people playing rugby.”

David Soar, captain of Cirencester Golf Club: “I’d dearly love to get my handicap down to single figures and I’d dearly love England to learn how to play cricket again. Also, having been born in Leicestershire, I’d love Leicester Tigers to do well… that will upset my Gloucester-supporting fans at the golf club!”

John Bayliss, ex-Gloucester rugby player: “I’d love England to make a successful defence of their Six Nations title. I enjoy watching them play, I like their style of rugby.”
