Frampton United are GFA Senior Amateur Cup kings after penalty shootout victory over Bromley Heath United
Author: Roger Jackson, Posted: Wednesday, 30th April 2025, 09:00
Goalkeeper Tom Kaye was the hero as Frampton United won the GFA Senior Amateur Cup at Almondsbury last night.
He made two saves in the penalty shootout to deny Bromley Heath United after the game had finished 1-1 at the end of normal time.
Frampton, who are currently second in the County League, won the shootout 3-1 and vice-chairman Kevin Jackson said: “This is a big win for us.”
Striker Henry Driver-Dickerson put Frampton ahead in the 18th minute but Bromley Heath, who Frampton had already beaten three times this season, were level in the 67th minute through Aidan Noble.
“It was a game of two halves,” added Jackson. “We dominated the first half and they had the better of the second half.”
Fortunately for Frampton’s supporters, it was their club who had the better of the penalty shootout, with Myron Turner and Manolo Marquez Espada both scoring before Lewis Vye got the decisive goal.
Frampton, who are managed by Lee Driver-Dickerson, are now chasing a cup double because they face Henbury & Rockleaze in the final of the Les James League Cup on Saturday 10th May.
Frampton beat Bromley Heath 2-0 in one of the earlier rounds of the Les James Cup – they also won 1-0 at Bromley Heath in the league on Saturday when Tom Mangan got their goal – and they have won one and drawn one against Henbury & Rockleaze in the league this season.
Henbury & Rockleaze are currently ninth in the County League, one place below Bromley Heath and 20 points adrift of Frampton.
Frampton host sixth-placed Filton Athletic on Monday in their final league game of the season.
Filton are one of several clubs who could still pip Frampton for the runners-up spot behind champions Almondsbury, but Jackson said: “It’s been a good season, we’ve got quite a few good young players.”Copyright © 2025 The Local Answer Limited.
