Hartpury duo Ross Johnstone and Owen Windsor win international call-ups
Author: Roger Jackson, Posted: Thursday, 24th January 2019, 09:40
Two Hartpury College students have been named in an England international football squad after producing a series of impressive performances this season.
Ross Johnstone and Owen Windsor, who are both studying a Level 3 Extended Diploma Sport (Performance and Excellence) in football, have been selected for the English Schools Football Association’s (ESFA) Under-18s squad.
Midfielder Ross and winger Owen can now look forward to representing their country in the 2019 Centenary Shield tournament against Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
Paul Tassell, Football Academy Manager at Hartpury, said: “We are delighted that both Owen and Ross have made the England Schools FA Under-18 squad this year and this is just reward for the hard work they continue to put in every day.
“They both have huge talents that have been recognised with the achievements already here with us at Hartpury and now gaining these representative honours, which tops off a fantastic first year.
“We look forward to developing them further and gaining future successes in the Centenary Shield with England and beyond.”
The ESFA international squads are made up of the best players in schools’ football in England, based upon their talent and performances in a series of trials matches.
